Who we are

Nelson Santos Painting & Decorating (“we”, “us”) is a painting and decorating business based in Watford, Hertfordshire. We are responsible for the personal information you share with us through this website, by phone, by WhatsApp or by email.

What we collect

When you ask for a quote or get in touch, we collect what you choose to give us:

• your name, phone number and email address
• your postcode (so we know where the work is)
• the service you need and the details of your project
• any photos or videos you upload of the rooms, property or work
• messages you send us by phone, WhatsApp or email

Photos can sometimes show people, personal belongings or house numbers. Please avoid including anything you’d rather we didn’t see.

How we use it

• to reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote and arrange a visit
• to carry out and manage the work if you go ahead
• to keep records we need for accounting, tax and insurance

We don’t sell your information and we don’t use it for marketing without your permission.

Our legal basis

We use your information because you’ve asked us to take steps before entering a contract (a quote), to perform a contract with you, to meet our legal obligations (such as keeping financial records), and for our legitimate interest in running and improving our business.

Who we share it with

Only with the services we use to run the business, and only as needed:

• Wix, which hosts this website, stores enquiries submitted through the form and the photos and videos you upload
• Google, for website analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies) and if you contact us through Google
• Meta (WhatsApp), if you message us on WhatsApp
• members of our wider team or trusted trades, only where needed to quote for or carry out your job
• our accountant, insurer or professional advisers, or authorities where the law requires it

Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

If an enquiry doesn’t lead to any work, we delete it, including the photos, within 12 months. If we carry out work for you, we keep the records needed for accounting and insurance for up to 6 years after the job, then delete them.

Cookies and website data

Some cookies are needed for the website to work, and these are always on.

We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site, for example which pages are viewed and whether the quote form is used. It uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device and browser. We only turn on these analytics cookies if you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.

We don’t use advertising cookies. If that changes, we’ll update this notice and ask for your consent first.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to transfer it to you. Email contact@nelsonsantos.co.uk and we’ll respond within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

We may update this notice from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
